Our Medical Equipment Division (MED) of CIL plays an important role in the delivery of healthcare. This program provides consumers with quality medical aids and equipment that is needed to improve their health and well-being and at the same time give them a feeling of being independent.
Other benefits include:

  • Improved safety for physically disabled clients
  • Reduction of falling accidents by patients and caregivers
  • Help improve recovery time
  • Early discharge from hospital reducing healthcare costs
  • Encourages self-motivation and independence in patients

  • For this program to succeed in helping those accessing our services, we require donations from the community. Without those donations, we wouldn’t have the beds, scooters, chairs and assorted other pieces of equipment that is requested on a daily basis from many that have no other way of obtaining this equipemt.
As a registered charity, Cowichan Independent Living can offer you a registered tax receipt for 80% of the assessed value of the item(s) being donated.

There are four programs within the MED offices. They include:

    Equipment Loans:

We offer a wide use of equipment such as beds, scooters, lifts , chairs and an assortment of other widely used medical devices. Generally, we will loan equipment for a period of up to three months.
